Calculated dynamic dates

Hi everyone, thank you for your time.

I'm currently looking to transfer some excel data sheets into dataverse, these will be used for health and safety at work, 

I have date reported, date repaired, initial status, current status.

I'm able to to create the the formula I want which checks the initial status is 2 and that no repair date has been entered, it then checks today's date against the reported date and if the datediff is greater than 28 days it sets current status to 3 else it leaves it at 2

This is required under the HSE act for the damage being reported.

My issue is the number does not update unless I select the row and edit it and save, I need it to update on view, I can get round this by creating the same formula in my form , but anyone taking a view of the table and not using the data entry form they are not seeing the correct information.

How do I get dataverse to auto adjust calculated columns.

I'm new to powerapps so I may be missing something as simple as power automate to run daily or hourly or when a view is accessed if that's what I need to do please says so, or if I'm missing something basic in my dataverse table please help.

Hi @SugaComa, how have you implemented the calculation? There's various different approaches you can take within the platform. Are you using a Calculated/Formula Column? These might be the first options to try as they should give you a real-time output

It looks like you implemented this using some client side logic or some sort of business rules which runs on change of a certain field? If that is the case, I would recommend to move this logic to a workflow/flow that runs on actual creation of the record as well as on update of the source fields that would make it always available... 

Calculated fields are also an option assuming your logic is not super complex and can fit with in the scope of calculated field..

Hi parvezghumra,

I have it as a calculated column with in the dataverse list , when viewing theist directly it's blank, when I create a view for it I can see the result how ever it's the result only for the time the row was last saved. 

To resolve this on my view I recreated the formula to work with in the app and removed the calculated column from the view. Which is fine for my needs, but when others create views for reports they use the calculated column which only holds the result for the moment it was last saved which is now technically out of date data

@SugaComa If you have implemented it as a Calculated Column in Dataverse, it should be evaluated in real-time when the record is viewed (either a single record or in a list of records). It sounds like you might have implemented this using another approach. Can you share any screenshots of your column definition/view definition/form definition or definitions of any other relevant object types etc?

• Create Power Automate Flow with List Rows action to list all rows
• Save the value of date column to a compose action
• Create an Update Row and update the date column with UTC(Now)
• Reverse the right value to the date column
• Run the flow, it will update your formula column
