I cant get the item ID of my created file in MS Flow

Hi,

I have a flow with PowerApps trigger on it, I am uploading a file from PowerApps to SharePoint Document Library using flow. After my create file action, i added a get item action to get the item ID, but it is not available on the dynamic content. I need to add a get item action after the create file because i will update some of the columns in the document library after uploading

The Create File action does not have an Item parameter, however it does include the SPBlobMetadataResponse parameter which does have ItemId and Id. Notice however, you are utilizing the Get item action with your Flow, which is for SharePoint Lists, rather than the Get file metadata action. You should be able to parse in Id or ItemId, but only if you are using the correct file-releated actions.

So, remove your Get item step and instead utilize a Get file metadata step. The Id contained within the Get item action, is looking for an Id that is tied to a row within a SharePoint list, and not a file within a SharePoint document library. In Flow and SharePoint, items are for lists, and files are for documents.

I need to have the update item action since update file does not includes library columns to update; my solution would be to use "send http request" to update the columns of the file. However, i still need to get the ID of that created file for me to update it using http request.

Hi @karl_oliverio ,

The ItemId output by Create file action is ID of the specified item you need.

Id output by Create file action is a File identifier, the type of ItemId is Number, and the type of Id is String.

So you could directly configure ItemId in Send an HTTP request to SharePoint action.

In addition, Update file properties action can be used to update the column in the Library, but the Id required here is also the ItemId(ID).

Hi @v-bacao-msft , I got it now. I am now using the get file properties instead of using get item on my flow. Thank you for clarifying things on my inquiry
