Form Resetting on its Own when it shouldn't

Hey guys. Big issue I've been banging my head against the wall on for a month. I finally just let Sharepoint create the form app for me, added one thing and was able to duplicate, so I've ruled out all my additions.

Summary of the issue I'm having:

  1. Open app
  2. Fill in form
  3. Navigate to next screen (where it gives you a summary of the inputs to the form)
  4. The first time after opening the app, when navigating to that next screen, it resets the form somehow. Sometimes this takes a few seconds
  5. If you then go back to form and fill something in and come back to it, it'll work properly
  6. Close the app, try it again, and that first time it will reset on you.

App:

It's a simple app to both browse and edit entries in a Sharepoint list, and add new items as well. I had it set up in a bit of a different approach before, but this is the framework that I have now (set up by selecting create new app in Sharepoint):

Browse Screen:

Nothing changed from the default build. It is just a gallery tied to the list, that lets you select an item to go to a view form or press the + to make a new item

View Screen (Accessed when you press on an gallery item): No change from default.

Edit/New Form Screen (here's where the minor changes start):

Update form and simple controls. The only thing I changed was the "Checkbox" button instead of submitting the form, it just navigates you to a new screen, which I will have below:

Function on button (very simple):

Navigate(EditScreen1_1,ScreenTransition.Fade)

That new screen (just for testing):

Normally this would be where I have a summary of the review to be submitted, allowing for email to be sent summarizing (via an HTML box etc). For testing purposes, I just have one lable and two buttons.

The X goes back to the form. The Check submits the form. The label references one of the DataCardValue12.Text, which is the "Director" field on the form.

This is where the problem comes in, though. How to duplicate:

The first time after launching the app (and only the first time), if you fill in anything on the form, and go to this screen, the form will reset when going to this screen, but only if it has any references to the form, such as the way I've set up the simple DataCardValue12.Text.  If you then go back to the form again, input something, it will work just fine and not reset. Very confusing and frustrating.

I experienced the same issue, and posted about it here. I created a simple form, with a button that simply navigated to another screen. Upon navigation, the form would get cleared, but only the first time per session.

For me, the following fixed this issue: File --> app settings --> advanced settings , and shut off "delayed load".

For further trouble shooting, I went ahead and set up as simple of a form via. sharepoint list as I could.

This is the list:

Just a Title column and one Single Line of Text column.

I used the auto-create app option in sharepoint, and it made the same app as above with Viewing gallery, view form, edit/new form pages. I did the same as before and changed the submit button to navigate to a new page which just simply looks up the datacardvalue's for the two fields above. On the first time opening the app it will wipe the form when going to the new page. This is whether you are in a new form or edit form.

If you change the "Item" property of the edit form to be blank (meaning it can only do a new form, can't edit existing entry, it will work perfectly even the first time.

As soon as you add back the Gallery.Selected referennce in the Item property of the form, it exhibits the same behavior on next run of the app.

Update since no one else has posted yet.

I have now duplicated this same issue in the same screen. So I added a standard email sending mechinism on top of the form (hidden, with text box, browse gallery, people collection gallery, subject line, and HTML text box for the email body).

The first time submitting it, the form resets before submission 😞

WARNING: Turning off the Delayed Load is not a long term option as the preview features roll out is clear :

Any Features will become Shipped :

Shipped for new appsAll new apps have this feature turned on and it cannot be turned off. For existing apps where the feature is turned off, the feature will continue to show as a Preview feature until it is turned on. If turned on and the switch becomes unavailable, you can restore the app to a previous version to return to a state before the feature was enabled.Yes.
Shipped for all appsAll apps have this feature and it cannot be disabled.Yes.

I have the same bug, I have tried to remove lot of thing and at one point it works, when I do twice the process it does not happen after the same deleting step.

What I suspect is a conflict between old and new formula. For me the gallery issue is related to an outlook calendar items one.
