How to pull in Employee data to SP List or PowerApp

Hello,

I've created a Powerapp based on a Sharepoint list that will be used for New Hire onboarding.

I've created a column in my sharepoint list that allows you to type in the name and it will pull from our o365 users and allow you to select. This works perfectly in the powerapp and pulls in their name.

I would like to take it a step further. I would like to create a new column in the Sharepoint list that can list their Job Title or department or Phone # and pull the info from their o365 profile but I am not sure how to do that. I can't find a great way to utilize this info: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powerapps/connections/connection-office365-users to accomplish what I want.

Office365Users.MyProfile().JobTitle

Office365Users.MyProfile().Department

etc.

However,

If I have a sharepoint column Named "Employee Name" and I can enter the person "John Smith"

How do I use that function to reference the sharepoint field in PowerApps that has "John Smith" , that is where my confusion is.

For instance this snip is the field with the employee's name

How do I create the reference to the employee's name with your supplied formula? Am I supposed to enter "DataCardValue130" or something else...

If I understand correct, you want to automatically update the values in Sharepoint columns "Department", "Job Title" etc.

Assuming you have already created those two columns (text) in sharepoint , and that both of these columns are also shown in some datacard on the same form as the one with the Employee name, you can set the Default value of those datacardvalues as -

If(IsBlank(DataCardValue130.Value)=false,Office365Users.UserProfile(DataCardValue130.Selected.Value).Department)

If(IsBlank(DataCardValue130.Value)=false,Office365Users.UserProfile(DataCardValue130.Selected.Value).JobTitle)

That is exactly correct, I would like the columns I have created (Department & Job Title) to populate the info of the selected user in the Employee name column.

I have tried your formulas in the card for department (DataCardValue2) and Job Title (DataCardValue1) in the Text field.

It's giving me errors which is making me think the (DatacardValue130) is not the correct reference I need for the Employee Name Field...

Here is the form with the columns from sharepoint as you can see.

The error is: The function 'IsBlank' has some invalid arguments

Can you quickly check this and let me know -

 I just made a mistake in the formula - it should be DataCard130.Selected.Value as it's a combo box

Just to be sure, I am putting the formula in the correct field as shown below right? (DataCardValue1 is the JobTitle box)

Also, I have confirmed the DataCardValue130 is the correct reference to the Employee Name Field/combo box

I see from the screenshot of the form that it's in display mode. it won't work in such a case.

I thought your form was in edit mode as you were entering the employee name. In this case, it should work fine

Can you confirm which screen you want to do this (display form or edit form). I would recommend to do it on the edit mode.

@ThatAPIGuy I would like it to work on both details (display mode screen) and the edit screen. I tried your formula on the edit screen and got the same error message..
