Missing a column 'Id' with a type of 'Number'

The error i am getting is written as follows:

Invalid argument type. Expecting a Record value, but of a different schema.
Missing column. Your formula is missing a column 'Id' with a type of 'Number'.
The function 'Patch' has some invalid arguments.

My question is where can I look to find this 'Id' value that powerapps is looking for. Im assuming that its due to the column being refereced being a lookup column. That being said, I have tried doing something with the 'MeterName' column in this code such as:

MeterName: {Value: dropdown1.SelectedText, Id: ????},

The issue when I tried this is that I get no options for a .Value or a .Id 

If any other info is needed like I am assuming will be just let me know. Thanks in advance!

What is the Items property of Dropdown1?

If you want to patch a lookup column value to sharepoint list, using the value only is not enough – it's possible that there are multiple items in the table that is being looked up that have the same value for the referenced column, so we also need to specify the Id property of those values. The best way to retrieve it is to use the Choices function, which returns both the referenced column in the lookup, as well as the identifier of the value. 

Patch('SP list',Gallery.Selected,{MeterName: LookUp(Choices('SP list'.MeterName),Value=Dropdown1.Selected.ColumnName)}

ColumnName means the referenced column looked up by MeterName in related list.

The items property is just Meters.Name. The 'Meters' list is a list of all electric meters on the property. It has a Title, Long/Lat coordinates, notes, and then attachments. 

Patch('SP list',Gallery.Selected,{MeterName: LookUp(Choices('SP list'.MeterName),Value=Dropdown1.Selected.ColumnName)})

for this in my app i am doing:

Patch('Meter Readings', ES_Gallery.Selected, {MeterName: Lookup(Choices('Meter Readings'.MeterName, ?????), otherCol: otherColData})

Where the ????? are is the issue I am having. I think I want to say where MeterName = Dropdown.Selected.MeterName but when I try this I only get options for the control options of the 'Form' I created. I say 'Form' because its not an actual form but rather different controls that I put together to use as a Form.

I have now gotten the syntax correct for the patch command I need to use. The issue now is that when I click accept to upload the data to the SharePoint list, it does nothing then gives me an error saying that the upload failed due to it being a duplicate field. This is good because it means that its working like I want it to, but as I understood patch is supposed to overwrite data if it already exists. 

Error Message:

The requested operation is invalid.  Server Response: Meter Reading failed: This list item could not be added or updated because duplicate values were found in the following field(s) in the list: [MeterName].  

SharePoint entry before patch:

{MeterName: "Z01", kWhValue: 8000, AmountDue: 50.00, Date: some_date, Approval Status: Approved}

After the patch I want the above entry to be this: 

{MeterName: "Z01", kWhValue: 8250, AmountDue: 65.00, Date: currentDate, Approval Status: Pending}

If I turn off the unique column data for the MeterName column in SharePoint, the patch function uploads the correct data. The issue is I need there to be only one unique copy per meter reading.

The MeterName is now working and pulling the correct meter, the kWhValue is entered by the user, theAmountDue field is calculated localling in PowerApps, and the date is entered using the Now() function.

I have thought about trying to use the Update function instead of a patch, however as I understand it the Patch function should be able to do what im trying to do. Any help is appreciated.

What is the Items of ES_Gallery? The MeterName reference from Name column of Meter List, right?

If so, could you please try this?

1. Set dropdown1.Item property to  Meters

2. Modify the code:

Patch('Meter Readings', 
LookUp('Meter Readings',ID= ES_Gallery.Selected.ID), 
{MeterName:
{'@odata.type':"#Microsoft.Azure.Connectors.SharePoint.SPListExpandedReference",
