BUG - component Event not being triggered since update

Ever since the update that occurred in the last few days, all my buttons inside of components that Patch to SharePoint are no longer working (says it's after a text field). Until this update they were working fine. Can we please get a fix for this?

Hi, we have made some changes to behavior properties, including Event property. This change enforces the return type checking. This means that the property formulas need to have the same return type as what the property is defined with.

@lizwharty for your case, your Event property has a Return Data Type as "Text" but the your formula, I'm assuming based on your screenshot, only has the Patch function which returns a record. You can fix the error by either changing the Return Data Type to "Record" or keep the type as "Text" and add some dummy text at the end of your formula like "Patch(); "hello world"".

We apologize for this inconvenience but it is needed change when we announce preview for this feature and introduce UDF down the road.

@SandAStairs Can you check the "Return data type" and what type your formula does return? There might be a type mismatch that needs to be addressed.

@anhtruongMSFT Both of those methods work to remove the errors.

This is for a button's OnSelect property, so what happens if we want to use that field to run something else that isn't a patch and therefore a record, we'd have to put dummy text on the end of everything going forward if using pre-existing text fields that were previously behaviour properties (now event)? This is a little inconvenient, we're using this formula in hundreds of apps. Should there not be an "OnSelect" data type if expected to use when triggering events in components via buttons? 

EDIT: It is now advising it is a read only column when trying to patch which does not happen in apps I've not added the fix to. The column is not read only - it is a SharePoint choice column. Any idea why this might be occuring? My formula is Patch(

I 've put the text at the end of formula. It only resolved the fx error message. Nothing else, other function still not does anything when I perform the event.

This is not a solution at All. This doesn't allow you to run more than one line of code,
What happen if you want to Create a collection, set a variable, and do a patch with the same OnSelect Action? There are different types of variables, you cannot limit to determinate the data type for an Action property. The behavior must be exactly as "OnSelect" property of a normal button.
Will you resolve this, or this implicates that all the components will not work anymore?

I have a WorkAround: a hidden Button where my logic is implemented in OnSelect. In the event handler I have an OnSelect(myButton). I know it's not an ideal solution, but it works.
